Festival of Trees

The east coast’s largest holiday extravaganza is here again. the Festival of Trees is a three-day, family-friendly event featuring more than 700 uniquely decorated holiday trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses, entertainment, princess visits, over 100 gift boutiques, and jolly old St. Nick. This event is a fundraiser to support the children of Kennedy Krieger Institute.

August events in the Baltimore area

Here are some August events happening in and around Baltimore. Go out and support our Orioles or visit a farmers’ market. All of that and more is happening this month in our town.

You know the summer is almost over when it’s time for the state fair. The Maryland State Fair is a wonderful family event no matter what your age is. There are rides for small and big kids. If you don’t like the rides, you can see the animals. The 4-H has lots of animals on display as well as the large farm animals in the Cow Palace. And the food! Who doesn’t love fair food?! The fair always has lots of entertainment, including concerts. This year’s headliners are Hailstorm and Sabrina Carpenter.

Monthly Item of Value: How to Hire a Moving Company

It is important to know how to hire a moving company before making the big move. The company you hire can make a difference in whether your move goes smoothly or not. Do your homework before you make a commitment.

Ask around, friends, coworkers, family members, and find out what companies they used and how it worked for them. Knowing a person who has had personal experience is always helpful.

Get a written, digital or paper, estimate before moving forward. An estimate is just that, but it’s a good guide.

Do some online research. Read revues, check out their credentials. Make an informed decision.

German Festival – Buergerverein!

Deutschamerikanischer Bürgerverein von Maryland, Inc.  (German-American Citizen’s Association of Maryland) and their 11 member organizations present the German Festival. Take in the sights, sounds and tastes of the German-American experience. Music includes  Mike Surratt and the Continentals and Alex Meixner.
