August events in the Baltimore area

Here are some August events happening in and around Baltimore. Go out and support our Orioles or visit a farmers’ market. All of that and more is happening this month in our town.

Maryland State Fair

You know the summer is almost over when it’s time for the state fair. The Maryland State Fair is a wonderful family event no matter what your age is. There are rides for small and big kids. If you don’t like the rides, you can see the animals. The 4-H has lots of animals on display as well as the large farm animals in the Cow Palace. And the food! Who doesn’t love fair food?! The fair always has lots of entertainment, including concerts. This year’s headliners are Hailstorm and Sabrina Carpenter.

This consistently wet summer seems to be prepping us for great fall planting!  If you are vacationing this month remember to take a look at the landscapes and gardens surrounding you while traveling.  Make a mental note of colors and textures and how they are used in that particular landscape.  Assuming that the plants will work in our zone, it could give you some good ideas for fall planting in your own gardens and yards.

Presented by Towson University WTMD Enjoy a diverse selection of bands.  Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome so bring your sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.

Aug 28 to Sept 7- Maryland State Fair– Timonium State Fair Grounds

The 11 Best Days of Summer-Concerts, rides, midway, exhibits, farm animals, livestock, horse racing and lots of food concessions.

Aug 29^th to Oct25-Maryland Renaissance Festival– The region’s premier outdoor event and the second largest Renaissance Festival in the country. Come dressed in your best renaissance costume and enjoy the merriment. Annapolis
